CLINIC OF MARIANI A couple babies were abandoned by their parents, and their neighbors contacted Solace for help. We recently added those and several other new babies into our Solace and Mom Tot nutrition programs. Five Solace children will participate in a graduation ceremony from kindergarten. They were chosen to make a presentation at their school, so we will provide special clothes for them. Our 24-hour inpatient Solace babies, medical clinic and dental clinic all generate a lot of laundry, so it has become necessary to expand our laundry room. We are planning to lay concrete for that this week. Many patients are coming for both medical care and for our dental services. The dental clinic and medical clinic are operating well. The change of seasons has arrived bringing more intense heat and an epidemic of fever and cough with other symptoms. Many people, including babies in Solace, have been treated recently at our clinic. We give them medicine, they see our doctor, and we expect them to recover. We hope to purchase fuel and supplies to store in anticipation of shortages due to the effects of the Iran war. CLINIC OF TRICON The rural clinic of Tricon is also experiencing a change of seasons and many epidemics. Hope Alive is very important for the population in the nearby areas, providing them medical care that they need. We hope to change the mindset of some people who live deep in the countryside. The long journey can be difficult, so sometimes they wait too long to go to our doctor - until they are close to dying, or when they cannot put up with a sickness any longer. HAITI Roads are still blocked and gangs are still operating in many areas despite the promise almost a year ago to remedy that. The security situation hasn’t changed in some areas, but it has gotten worse in others. In Mirebalais and many other places, gang activities have intensified. The journey from Carrefour to Port-au-Prince is very difficult: vehicles are getting burned, and people are getting killed as they return from school or from work. Police continue to arrest people, but unfortunately, this has not dissuaded them from doing more kidnapping. For the past few days, almost every day, we have been hearing big explosions. We don’t know if it is the explosion of drones or something else. Economically, people’s power of purchase has diminished due to the increase in importation of products and the difficulty to circulate Haitian products throughout the country. Many areas are still under gangs’ control (charging expensive tolls) and many roads are still blocked. Lately, we have seen some activities that are aiming towards elections in the country. Many political parties have been registered. We are still longing for the possibility to return to our homes that the gangs stole from us. We believe that the Lord sees, hears and will rescue his children. Lord of mercy! Please have mercy on us. Thanks for your prayers. We love you. May God bless you.
