Mariani: At one time we had wished the clinic was closer to the main road, to make traveling easier for our patients. In the past few years, that short distance from the worst of the gang violence had been a blessing. Now, though, there is much panic in the area of the clinic. The shots of many large guns are so frightening, and a few people in our area have been killed by them. The clinic is so crucial to the population, and it remains open. Despite the dangers, patients keep risking their lives to seek medical care, and the doctor (and all our staff) come to work every day. The children of Solace and Kay Lanmou are doing well. Thirteen (13) of them are now school age and returned to school last week. Thank God traveling next door to their school has been safe. School in Haiti is not free, and it is the obligation of Hope Alive to provide everything these children need, as their parents have either been killed or have abandoned them. This south part of Haiti is much safer than Mariani. Haiti: Kidnappings continue. The policemen continue to fight the gangs but have not prevailed. The road to the south is still blocked. Fuel prices are still rising, but gas quality is very bad. Many engines have been destroyed because of poor quality fuel. Your prayers are so valuable to us. Thank you for continuing to pray for Haiti. We love you. May God bless you. "Smiles Alive" is the name of our Dental Clinic situated in a shipping container. We added a floor, windows and doors! We recently shipped a new dental chair, compressor, and equipment to perform a wide range of tooth care. The dentist does mostly extractions. Despite fear gripping Haiti, the dental clinic is quite busy. Below are some pictures (pulling for Jesus).
